2010 Subaru Outback Gets Bigger and Better
The Subaru Outback has been a mainstay in the Subaru lineup for years. While not the highest volume wagon on the market, the Subaru outback offers a level of dependability, ruggedness, and versatility that few wagons can compete with. With a solid reputation to live up to, Subaru has released an updated version of its Outback wagon and sedan for 2010.
Interior volume and ground clearance have both been increased by the Subaru Outback, thanks to new dimensions that make the 2010 Outback longer, taller, and wider than its predecessor. Cargo capacity is up to a spacious 71 cubic feet, and rear passengers get almost four more inches of legroom.
The Subaru Outback offers buyers two engines to choose from. This includes a 2.5-liter flat four that’s good for 170 horsepower and 170 lb ft of torque which is mated to a six-speed manual or an all-new continuously variable transmission (CVT). The second engine choice is a 256 horsepower 247 lb ft of toque 3.6-liter V6 that’s from the Tribeca. The latter engine will only be available with a five-speed automatic transmission. All three trim levels for the new Subaru Outback will feature all-wheel drive, like all Subarus. Standard features also include traction control and stability control as well ABS brakes.
Inside, the 2010 Subaru Outback receives a swankier interior layout that seems to be lifted straight from the Tribeca. The overall feel is that the Subaru wagon is far more upscale than before, with more space and a cleaner design. Outside, the design manages to be more upscale while retaining the rugged design cues that are part of the Outback character, including flared fenders, high ground clearance, and gray lower body panels.
Overall the latest Subaru Outback is bigger and better than before. With a fresh new design inside and out, plus loads of interior space, the Subaru Outback is still the perfect wagon for those with an active lifestyle.
