Where the Deals Are: Your Local Subaru Dealership
If you’re looking for a great return on investment for your automotive dollar, Subaru is the right place to look. The automaker put two of its vehicles—the Subaru Outback and the Subaru Legacy—on the “2010 Cars: Where the Deals Are” list, published each year by “Kiplinger’s Personal Finance.”
The Legacy, which Subaru completely redesigned for the 2010 model year, was honored by the Kiplinger’s experts as their “Best New Car” in the $25,000-$30,000 range. It was a decision made simple by the slick sedan’s “compelling design inside and out.” As also noted, the Subaru offers a compelling combination of standard full-time all-wheel-drive, an available horizontally opposed six-cylinder boxer engine—able to knock out an impressive 265 hp—and top safety pick status from the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety (IIHS).
As for the Outback, Subaru’s right-sized crossover was a double winner with Kiplinger’s. Calling it “bigger, better and bolder,” the judges gave the new Subaru top honors as both “Best in Class” and “Best New Wagon.” Reasons include the Outback’s sophisticated looks, impressive room for both cargo and passengers, and improved handling. Oh, and it’s an IIHS top safety pick as well. (In fact, the IIHS has named every Subaru model a top safety pick.)
But it’s not just the consultants at Kiplinger’s who are noticing these two Subarus: So are customers. Sales of the the Outback and Legacy are up 126 percent and 111 percent, respectively, through March, which helped the automaker record its best-ever first-quarter sales numbers.
“We are very pleased that the 2010 Legacy and Outback were recognized by ’Kiplinger’s Personal Finance,’” said Tom Doll, executive vice president of Subaru of America, Inc. “As the magazine focuses on advising their readers on smart purchasing decisions and wise financial choices, it means a great deal to us that our vehicles receive these honors.”
